The Problem Space
In busy cities, especially those living in flats, people do not socialise with each other even in the same building and they often feel lonely.
Our Solution
We have designed an interactive installation to be placed in the lobby, where many people will work together in a cooperative way to bring warmth and colour to the daily lives of the residents. It will also promote social relations.

KEY INSIGHTS
Activities can bring people together and help to build relationships.
The interviewees are not willing to get to know their neighbors in depth, but they would like to express ordinary friendliness and greetings.
Their apartments do not hold any activities so they don’t have a chance to meet new friends.
Ideation
To promote and strengthen the relationship between the residents of the flats. We will place a large electronic backdrop in the lobby of the flat. In front of the wall, a glass cover will be placed. People can collaborate in different interactive ways to plant a flower, which will be presented as a 3D holographic projection. Once a flower has been successfully planted, it will be projected on a trellis on the back wall. Users can press a virtual button on the wall to leave a voice message to greet or wish their neighbour.

ITERATIONS
Increased sense of user control
Avoiding process confusion
Avoid being harassed by neighbours
The ability to leave messages with specific neighbours has been iterated to a wider range of greetings and wishes.
Implementation process

Added footwork interaction as a way to select the number of participants in the game. The number of participants is proportional to the difficulty of the interaction.
LED lights to guide the play process. (Requires the light to be on in the action state)
The ability to leave messages with specific neighbours has been iterated to a wider range of greetings and wishes.
Enhanced sense of achievement
